ARM LIFT

Contour Your Physique.

ARE YOU FRUSTRATED WITH DROOPING, EXCESS SKIN ON YOUR UPPER ARMS? EVEN WITH A HEALTHY DIET AND EXERCISE, IT CAN BE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR MANY PEOPLE TO ACHIEVE BEAUTIFULLY CONTOURED UPPER ARMS. SOME OF OUR PATIENTS ARE PRONE TO DEVELOPING HANGING UPPER ARM SKIN WITH AGE, WHILE OTHERS ACQUIRE THE CONDITION AFTER SUBSTANTIAL WEIGHT LOSS.

Overview of Arm Lift Surgery

The type and length of incision Dr. Freund will recommend depends upon the severity of excess skin you have. A traditional arm lift incision will extend from your armpit to your elbow. Through this incision, Dr. Freund can access the underlying tissue. He will carefully pull and redrape these tissues, suture them together, and excise any excess.

In many cases, liposuction is used in conjunction with arm lift surgery for further fat reduction. If you choose to undergo liposuction, Dr. Freund will carefully suction out excess fat using a long, thin instrument called a cannula. While the arm lift surgery itself is designed to reduce excess skin, liposuction will reduce a substantial amount of unwanted fat, as well.

Once these alterations are complete, Dr. Freund will carefully suture your incision closed. He will use precise techniques to hide any scarring in the natural contours of your arms.

Candidates for Arm Lift Surgery

Candidates for arm lift surgery are healthy patients who are unable to sufficiently tone their upper arms through their own physical efforts. Surgical treatment for excess skin on the arms is a serious treatment, so only patients who cannot achieve their goals through diet and exercise should consider it.

You are likely a good candidate if you:

  • Are concerned with the appearance of excessively fatty or sagging arms
  • Have difficulty finding tops and jackets that properly fit your arms
  • Feel uncomfortable drawing attention to your upper arms

Sagging commonly occurs when elasticity in the arms breaks down, stretched out by fatty tissues or from deterioration with age.

Recovery After Your Arm Lift Surgery

Arm lift surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, so you will be able to return home with the help of a loved one shortly following your surgery. You should avoid any physical activity involving the use of your arms for a few weeks following surgery. Dr. Freund will see you approximately a week after your procedure to ensure that your incision sites are free from infection and you are healing free of complications. Dr. Freund will give you specific directions on when you can return to your previous activity level.
