An Injectable Treatment for Festoons

Under-eye bags are one of the most common signs of aging that effects both men & women. Lower Lid Blepharoplasty is one of the most common surgical approaches to treat this problem, but this surgical technique doesn’t treat festoons – one of the most common causes of puffy under-eyes which effects over 34% of the U.S. population. That’s because festoons are a medical condition where swelling occurs in the lowest portion of the muscle around the eye causing the overlying skin to permanently change.

Recently, Dr. Robert Freund began using an injectable to treat festoons that provides permanent results. In fact Dr. Freund’s results were recently presented at the American Society of Ocular Plastic Surgeons.

What Are Festoons?

Festoons are a medical condition where swelling occurs in the lowest portion of the muscle around the eye causing the overlying skin to change. Mild symptoms can come and go and get worse with fatigue, lack of sleep and excess salt consumption. Some patients, however, may have large bulges that stick around for a long time can change the overlying skin. These changes from temporary swelling to permanent swelling can be divided into 3 stages: Malar Edema, Malar Mounds, and Festoons.

NEW Jessner Brightening Chemical Peel

Our Jessner Brightening Chemical Peel is one of our newest peels now available at RF Skincare. This chemical peel is ideal for patients seeking to reduce signs of premature aging and achieve a refreshed look for the Fall. It’s especially ideal this time of year to diminish any sun damage you’ve experienced during the Summer months.

Chemical Peels come in different strengths. This peel is considered to be strong, but the amount of shedding will depend on your skin type. However, regardless of your skin type, the results will leave your skin glowing and radiant. This makes it a perfect non-surgical treatment to try before your next wedding, bar mitzvah, or any other upcoming major event.

Patients can expect to see an overall brighter, more radiant complexion and:

  • Reduction of sun damage/hyperpigmentation
  • Improvement in uneven skin tone/texture
  • Diminished pore size
  • Better product absorption

For optimal results, we advise patients to have a series of 4 treatments. These before and after photos show the skin’s improvement after just one treatment. Our office coordinator Aimee (seen here) is wearing no makeup on Day 10! She is planning on doing 3 additional treatments. Stay tuned to see her results!
